The thing I have found the most difficult when it comes to my intuition is this word "Trust". And of all the courses I have done and all the books I have read on intuition (and there have been 𝓪 𝓵𝓸𝓽), the common theme in all of them is to trust yourself and to trust the universe.
It seems so simple. But as a good friend of mine constantly reminds me, just because the idea is simple, doesn't mean that it is simple in practice. And one of my frustrations throughout my metaphysics journey has been the way in which my teachers have thrown the word out there as though it is the easiest thing in the world to do. "𝒥𝓊𝓈𝓉 𝓉𝓇𝓊𝓈𝓉 𝓌𝒽𝒶𝓉 𝒾𝓈 𝒸𝑜𝓂𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓉𝑜 𝓎𝑜𝓊." I am sure there are people out there who can easily do this, but I am not one of those people. I constantly doubt myself and the information I receive. And it is a daily learning for me to trust myself more and more. I still don't trust information I receive about myself and constantly ask my wonderful healer friends for their check-ins as well. Also, as much as I have a general trust in the universe (I know that I am being looked after and that things will come at the right time), when something doesn't go exactly as I planned, the doubt creeps in again.
For those of you who find it difficult to trust yourself and the messages you receive, or who struggle to trust in the universe, here are a couple of things that work for me.
Tip #1 - Practice trusting yourself every day
You can start with the choice to trust yourself on just one thing a day. (I posted "Practicing Intuition" on Wednesday (4th April 2022) on my Instagram and Facebook pages - this is a great way to start trusting yourself every day.) When your doubt creeps in, make the conscious choice to follow your initial decision or thought and trust it to be true. The next time you will find it easier to make the decision to trust yourself again. And the time after that will be even easier. Start small and work your confidence up to the bigger things.
Tip #2 - Remember the times the universe has helped you out
Make notes of when the universe has helped you out by not giving you what you wanted when you wanted it. When I was in my mid-twenties, I was in a legal battle with someone who owed me quite a bit of money. The case went on for over 5 years. Of course, I was very frustrated at how long this was taking. I also had a very "why me" sentimentality about the whole thing. Eventually I won the case and was paid out what was owed to me. When I look back, it could not have come at a better time. It was paid out as my husband and I found the perfect home for us so we were able to put the money down as a deposit. If I had been paid the money right at the beginning, I probably would have squandered it on alcohol and other silly things that would not have helped me out at all in the long run.
Can you think of times when similar "inconvenient" things have happened to you, but they landed up being much better than what you had planned? Make a list of them and read or think of them every time something is not going the way you want it to. This should slowly build up your trust in the universe again.
Trusting yourself and the universe is not always as simple as it sounds. I would love for you to try these two small ways to start building up the trust you once had in yourself and in the universe. I hope they help you as much as they have helped me. And I would love to hear your success stories, so please leave a note below if they do.
